Himalayan Conservation and Development Association (HCDA) is a non - political and non - profit making independent social organisation. It was established in 2050 B.S. (1994 A.D.) after getting duly registered in District Administration Office, Humla, with the vision of promoting integrated efforts for creating social, economic, cultural and physical development of the citizens from the Himalayan region. In the same year, the Association acquired affiliation from Social Welfare Council, Kathmandu. Now, it has affiliation even with the Inland Revenue Office, Nepalganj and NGO Federation Nepal. Having 55 members and a Working Committee comprising of seven members, HCDA covers all its members inclusively from the Mid - western region.
With the support from donors and the local people, HCDA has been carrying out various social development activities since its inception. The activities include natural resources management, sustainable agricultural development, natural resource - based micro - entrepreneurship development, social mobilization, community - based infrastructure development, new and alternative technology - based programmes, maternal and child health, human rights and good governance and conservation education, literacy etc. Regarding beneficiaries, most of them are from backward communities including women, dalits, ethnic groups and other deprived communities. |
